Nigeria: Mikel Puts Chelsea Contract Talks On Hold

Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel will not negotiate a contract with Chelsea until the summer, his agent has confirmed.

Mikel, who joined the Blues a decade ago, has been re-invented under Guus Hiddink and the club has been keen to renew his current contract.
However, the 28-year-old's agent says he has put talks over a new deal on hold and will wait until the end of the season before sorting out his future.
"Chelsea have approached him for an extension,' his agent explained. But he said after the season he'll decide. He has many teams interested - almost three clubs in China want him," the agent said.
Mikel is in the prime of his career and his next contract is likely to be his last big one - so getting it right will be very important. His current deal expires in 2017.
