Simba sail to quarters with hefty win

SIMBA sailed through to FA quarter final stage after punishing Singida United 5-1 in a-one sided match at the National Stadium.

Simba looked determined to win the encounter just from the start and managed to score an opener barely 3 minutes from the start. Danny Lyanga, who netted the opener, tapped home a cross from Emiry Numubona.
In the 21st minute, Hamisi Kiiza added the second after beating an offside trick to easily put the ball behind the gaping net. The teams went for the breather with the host leading 2-0.
The second half saw more goals rolling into the net from both sides. Simba added three more while Singida United scraped a consolation goal in this period.

Kiiza who scored the second goal in the first half added the third goal in 66th minute before Awadh Juma firing home the fourth goal in the 83rd minute. Three minutes later Juma netted the fifth goal before Singida pulled one back in 90th minute.
Pual Malamla netted the consolation goal in the injury time to make it 5-1 at the end of the goal ingested match. Singida United who played in the premier league a decade ago looked toothless before the success hungry Msimbazi Street boys.
Besides scoring three goals in the second half, many others were squandered in the period. Kiiza, Lyanga, Brian Majwega, Mwinyi Kazimoto and Jonas Mkude wasted countless scoring opportunities, a situation that benefited their opponents.
At CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza, Geita Gold Mine also qualified for the quarterfinal after beating Toto Africa 1-0 in a closely fought encounter.
Kibuga Kibuga scored the winner in the 64th minute after connecting home a cross from Juma Nade. GGM are the only first division side to qualify for the stage so far.
Also qualified to play in the quarter final stage are Tanga-based Coastal Union who floored Mtibwa Sugar, Young Africans who silenced JKT Mlale 2-1 and Tanzania Prisons who beat their Mbeya rivals, Mbeya City 3-1 at Sokoine Stadium. The winner of the Azam-backed FA Cup will represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
