FRANKFURT, Germany — Struggling Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt sacked coach Armin Veh in a bid to stave off relegation Sunday."The break is very hard for
us because Armin Veh had our confidence to the end," Frankfurt chairman Heribert Bruchhagen said on the club website. "Still, we wanted to give the team a fresh boost with a coaching change in the relegation battle so we can secure our survival. Eintracht Frankfurt thanks Armin Veh for his work."Veh began his second stint in charge of Frankfurt last summer but the team was in the relegation playoff place after just five wins and 11 defeats from 25 league games. Assistant coach Reiner Geyer is to take over on an interim
basis until the club decides on a successor."We want to hire a new coach soon," said Bruchhagen, who hoped to have the Veh's replacement in charge for next Saturday's match at Borussia Moenchengladbach. "That's our intention."Saturday's 1-1 draw at home against promoted Ingolstadt was the team's seventh straight game without a win. There were whistles from home supporters at halftime and after the game.Veh had led Frankfurt to promotion and clinched European qualification in his first stint from 2011 to 2014. The former Borussia Moenchengladbach midfielder previously led Stuttgart to the Bundesliga title in 2007 in his first stay there and also had been in charge of Augsburg, Hansa Rostock, Wolfsburg and Hamburger SV.
